Christopher R. Lattanzi, P.Eng., graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 1959, with a bachelor's degree in mining engineering, and who has now been employed in the mining industry continuously for 58 years. 
In the early part of his career, Mr. Lattanzi was involved in the direct field supervision of mining operations. From 1960 to 1965, he worked in the open pit coal mines of the state of Victoria, Australia, in a series of positions of increasing seniority, culminating as mine superintendent of two small open pits. 
In 1965, Mr. Lattanzi moved to Canada and was employed by Great Canadian Oil Sands (now Suncor) as mine superintendent for the first commercial operation producing synthetic crude oil from the extensive deposits of oil sands located near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The mine superintendent is the individual responsible for the entire mining operation and for the safe and productive deployment of the personnel and equipment employed in that operation. 
In 1969, Mr. Lattanzi joined the geological and mining consulting firm of David S. Robertson and Associates, in Toronto. The Robertson firm conducted a general consulting practice within the mineral industry worldwide. Mr. Lattanzi has been employed as a mining consultant continuously since that time. 
In 1988, following the retirement of David Robertson, Mr. Lattanzi and five professional colleagues formed Micon International Limited, an independent firm which also conducts a general consulting practice within the mineral industry worldwide. Mr. Lattanzi served as president of Micon from its formation in 1988 until mid-2005. He is a former director of Micon and continues to be retained by Micon as an associate consultant.
Mr. Lattanzi was appointed a director of Meridian Gold, Inc. (Meridian) in 1999 and, from mid-2004 until December, 2006, was chairman of the board. Upon relinquishing the position of chairman, he served as lead independent director until Meridian was acquired by Yamana Gold Inc. late in 2007. Meridian was a publicly traded gold mining company with mines in the United States and Chile, the shares of which were listed on both the Toronto and New York stock exchanges. 
Mr. Lattanzi is presently a director of Spanish Mountain Gold Ltd., a junior exploration company based in Vancouver, he recently served as director of Argonaut Gold, Inc., (Argonaut), which produces gold from two mines in Mexico, and of Teranga Gold Corporation (Teranga), which produces gold from a mine in Senegal. He was a member of the audit committee of each of these three companies. He also was the chairman of the safety, environmental and technical committee of Teranga, and a member of the governance and risk committees. For Argonaut, he was chairman of the nominating, compensation and governance committee. 
Since the early 1970s, Mr. Lattanzi has been responsible for the technical and economic assessment of mineral properties at all stages of development, in many parts of the world, and containing a wide range of mineral commodities and industrial minerals. He is thoroughly familiar with the technical and commercial aspects of the worldwide mining industry and with the generally accepted technical and business principles and practices of that industry. 
Since the mid-1980s, Mr. Lattanzi has testified as an expert witness on the valuation of mineral property or on common practices within the mineral industry on approximately fifteen occasions, before courts or boards of arbitration, principally in Canada and the United States. Mr. Lattanzi also was a member of the CIMVal committee, charged by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) with developing standards and guidelines for the valuation of mineral property. 
Mr. Lattanzi's particular fields of expertise are the valuation of mineral properties, the preparation and review of preliminary economic assessments, preliminary feasibility studies and feasibility studies of proposed mining projects, and the monitoring of the construction and early operation of new mining projects on behalf of lending institutions which provided funds for the construction of those projects.
